Baraja: "tHE TEAM kePT going AND COMPETED UNTIL THE END"
The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
The game against Espanyol was Valencia CF captain Dani Parejo's 350th for the club, and he marked the occasion with his 60th career goal in official competition. The midfielder sent in a penalty in the second half that levelled the contest, before Maxi Gómez' late winner.
Speaking about reaching 350 games, Parejo said that "I'm happy. It isn't easy to play so many matches and it's a source of real pride. I have to thank everybody who has made it possible for me to play so many games for a club as big as Valencia CF. I hope there are many more to come."
Remarking on the comeback from his side, who responded to going 1-0 down to win 1-2, Parejo underlined the belief present in the squad.
"If there's one thing that we know, it's that the LaLiga season lasts 38 games, and that games last 90 minutes. We're happy with the result and happy with our reaction, after a first half that wasn't good," he said.
"We'd come into this one off several games without a win, and the team's reaction was incredible. We equalised, didn't settle and managed to win. We come out of this game strengthened."
"We're on 17 points now, and on Tuesday we have a very important Champions League game. We invite the fans to come and watch us; we're going to need them, and when we need the fans, Mestalla gives us a big boost."
"It's a special game (against Lille). It's the Champions League and we're playing at home. We have two more group stage games at home, and beating Espanyol gives us a lot of confidence," added the VCF captain.
